This weekend I talked to an editor at Stanford who mentioned that The Kingdom and the Glory is now actually in production. She did not mention any specific timeline, but if I had to venture a ballpark figure based on my experience with The Sacrament of Language, I’d say it seems likely to come out in the next year. Of course, The Kingdom and the Glory is a much longer book with a much more complex and varied body of citations, so things may accordingly take a bit longer — but I’m excited for it to come out because I’ve been wanting to talk to people about it.

Excellent. Glad to meet you at AAR.
Good to meet you as well.
Ditto.
Great book for reading alongside something like T. Fujitani’s Splendid Monarchy for Japan.
Considering how often I get emails and posts asking me about that book’s translation, I assume it can only be a thousand times worse for you.
Yeah, why do you think I have this category for the blog? I only wrote this post because someone had dug up the previous post where I talked about this issue and asked for an update.
That was me, thanks for the good news reply. I’ll keep sitting by the phone.
